Bio:
I am a recent graduate from the University of Leeds where I achieved a 2.1 in Japanese and Asia Pacific Studies. During my time there I did best in Japanese translation and politics based modules and was an active member of the Leeds University Union Japanese Society, becoming its President in June 2010 until graduation.

I think that Japanese Society has been my biggest success to date, me and my committee strived to arrange a diverse range of events and outings which included karaoke, a trip to York, Cherry Blossom viewing at Harrogate (hosted by the Japanese community there), a formal ball, Christmas Dinner, a lecture with politician Akiko Yamanaka and our now famous Tanabata Festival. We also took part in many charitable endeavors, we raised £12,000 for the Japan Tsunami Appeal and sponsored the lunches for the Japanese children from the disaster area taking part in the UK-Japan Young Scientist Program this year. Our year culminated in us winning the Best Event award for our Tanabata Festival and being the Faith and Culture category nominee for Best Society. These are achievements that we are very proud of.

Now that I have graduated I want to keep doing the same activities that I did as Japanese Society President and am seeking jobs where this will be possible. I am also going to try and take on some new languages, I've just started learning Cantonese and aim to take on Mandarin and Arabic further down the line. I also hope that now I have more free time I can put more energy into my art and web design again. I had taken a 4 year hiatus to concentrate on my University studies but have realised that these are both skills that I don't want to lose and I have to keep practicing.
